The Chilkoot pass held an important trade route to the interior, which was owned and maintained by the Lukaax̱.ádi clan. The Lukaax̱.ádi leader, L'unaat', fought and died to defend his clan's right to manage use of the Chilkoot trail which started at Dayéi and went north over the pass to allow trade with interior peoples. Ikaduwakaa and the Storyboard are part of the Doorways to the Past; Gateway to the Future project, cooperatively supported by the Chilkoot Indian Association, Haines Borough Public Library, and a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal agency that fosters innovation, leadership, and lifelong learning.
